Upgrades made to SITE on 12/13 to 12/15

The server that performs DNS (domain name service) for the Cafe was upgraded with more RAM and an improvement to the operating system. This is also the machine that houses the HyperNews software, so improved performance should be noticed across the site. Additionally the IRC server was not accessible due to a non-operational start-up script that typically starts the server after a down time. This was also noticed on the secure registration server where a password must be entered after a down time and the machine is restarted. Both of these problems have been corrected. And as stated earlier, the DNS Server is much faster now, so there should be no waiting in line to get a response from the server.

I apologize for the temporary inacessibility of the Cafe, and will use this Forum to communicate any anticipated downtimes or to answer and strange quirks that may have happened. Thank you for being a guest of the Cafe.
