In the night sky, some stars may appear to be more luminous
than others, but it's the perspective of the distances which separate
them that create this illusion. We're all bright in our own way,
and to compare these degrees of light is often to trivialize ourselves
- and consequently life - in an arbitrary and relative way. Certainly
over time this leads to a condition where competition and cooperation
swing into and out of balance, tempered only by the friction of
boredom or our joyful liberation from it. NPJ
